One of the most popular things to do in Zurich is to visit the Schweizerisches Landesmuseum, otherwise known as the Swiss National Museum. It lies a few minutes from the hotel just beyond the Bahnhof. As well as its famous armoury tower, it contains all sorts of examples of Swiss handicrafts and traditional costumes, ideal for getting to know a bit about the country's past. Another cultural highlight in the city is the Kunsthaus, or Museum of Fine Arts. This art museum is located on the outskirts of the Old Town and is one of the top Zurich tourist attractions with free admission for children. It houses a major European collection of masterpieces which date from the 15th century to the present. In addition to its permanent collection, the gallery hosts temporary shows. Heading south from there through the Mühlebach district of the city from the Kunsthaus, visitors will reach the charming Chinese Gardens.
